Our Home

Ashleigh House is our residential care home in Taunton, Somerset. We provide support for up to eight individuals with autism, learning and physical disabilities, epilepsy and cerebral palsy.

We provide each individual a bespoke, person-centred care plan, with a timetable of activities tailored to their specific needs, interests and goals.

As some of the people we support are non-verbal, our team have adopted a variety of communication methods, such as signing and symbols, to enable each person to make choices about their activities, menus and changes to the home.

We encourage everyone to get involved in as many activities as possible, developing their confidence and their independence. With both in-house and community activities available, some of the things we enjoy include trips to the beach, going shopping, visiting cafes and restaurants, sensory activities, exercising, music sessions and going to the theatre and concerts! We also love to make use of our large garden, playing outdoor games such as swing ball, Connect 4 and water play!

Facilities

Our large, converted semi-detached property has lots of communal areas, such as a spacious lounge with comfy sofas, a kitchen, conservatory and dining room! We also have expansive front and rear gardens with a patio area and plenty of outdoor space – perfect for summer BBQs and garden games! Outside, there are also eight car parking spaces – great for when friends and family visit!

Built with accessibility in mind, our home has wide corridors, overhead ceiling tracking, wet rooms and hoists.

Community

Ashleigh House is located on the outskirts of Taunton, just a five minute walk from the town centre. Here, you can find lots of shops, cafes, a library, swimming pools, pubs and social clubs, all suited for people with disabilities. There is also a train station nearby, making nearby towns easy to access!

We have good relationships with our neighbours and make use of local facilities daily. Our aim is for each person we support to participate in the community, making them feel empowered and most importantly, to enjoy themselves!
